  • PetPiv:

    Still: NG or Propane…..still seems to be undersized

  • Turnpike256:

    @PetPiv Its Propane, not natural gas. Wonder if the csst screams at all under full burn on that Navien.

    use a hair dryer to warm the area but not too much heat directly on the board, and leave the front cover off overnite…goodluck

  • airvine1telusnet:

    @airvine1telusnet
    cross the two screws and blue wires attaced to them at the bottom of the board with pliers and then restart unit, do that two or three times to reset error code.the key is dry, dry dry, and the board will work 99% of time

  • airvine1telusnet:

    @invadernarra
    good news…the boards very seldom fry , you do need to give the unit time to dry out, unplug the connectors and blow them out then plug them back in and t cross

    I have a Navien CR110A unit. It just started leaking. The service company is here. They have replace two 90 degree elbows.(faulty resin). Tried to turn it back on but it diagnostically shut itself off. Reading were “43.01″ and “021E”. The circuit board is right below , and to the right of the leak. I hope the circuit board is not fried. Any iders.

    sorry to hear of your bad luck Chris, let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll see if I can help

  • airvine1telusnet:

    @chris2586
    If I see one new replacement elbow break, then I’ll personally be spearheading a lawsuit myself…and I already have 200+units to sign up. But by no means are we there yet. FYI , the key to getting your unit running again is to make sure its dry inside

  • airvine1telusnet:

    @chris2586
    But it’s how you deal with that problem, ireally do beleive in Navien and have found them very good at fixing the parts that leak, hopefully your service company is’nt filling you with garbage because short of these elbows that fail, Navien is by far still the best unit out there.

  • airvine1telusnet:

    @chris2586
    You won’t need to replace the whole unit and if you phone the guys in california they will ship overnight, with that said …I believe any company that grows too fast is going to have problems

  • jcapzz:

    @chris2586, I hope you have better luck. When our sensor failed, we had no hot water but nothing leaked. The magnetic pick-upwas not sensing the impeller turning so the heater would not go on.

    Read airvine1telusnet’s comments below about the elbows. I have gray ones but have not had any leaks… yet.

  • chris2586:

    @jcapzz The problem we have seem to be the flow sensor too. The part keeps leaking then failing, resulting in water pouring out of the unit. It was replaced once and serviced 3-4times already. Sigh….hope you get better luck with your unit then ours.

  • jcapzz:

    That has not been my experience. When I’ve called or emailed Navien, they have been very helpful. The ony problem I had in the year and a half was a defective flow sensor which they overnighted me free of charge.

  • chris2586:

    @airvine1telusnet I have the cr240 and the service has been crap. Navien wont replace the unit even though it malfunctioned 6 times this year, unit is less than 1year old. It pour water all over our basement. Service guy been over yest and twice today, still no hot water. Soooo frustrated.

  • chris2586:

    Do NOT buy this Navien product. We got ours less than 1year and it has malfunction 6 times and flooded our basement already twice this week.

    Utter crap. Owners should get a class action suit.

  • CANADIANDUDE290:

    what does that unit cost? cnd

  • airvine1telusnet:

    Its around 300-400 installed cdn

  • airvine1telusnet:

    I cant remember the manufacture but I’ll find out, it use’s radio frequency sensors so you can add a couple throughout the house… ie under clothes washer etc..

  • airvine1telusnet:

    If you inlet and outlet elbows on the side of the exchanger are grey then have them changed ASAP if they are black not as big a problem

  • jcapzz:

    Our unit was installed about 15 months ago. No leaks yet. When can I start expecting them? What type of cutoff systms are you installing?

  • airvine1telusnet:

    Hence the comment regarding GFI, also its local code where I am.

  • airvine1telusnet:

    How old is your unit? We have installed over 200 since they came out and we are starting to see 1 leak a day on average…I am recommending a water cutoff system to be installed to all my customers as we upgrade thier inlet and outlet elbow however I’m hearing that even some of those are failing and that some of the exchangers are failing…the good news is that Navien to date, has been standing behind thier product and replaces the unit or part quickly.

  • jcapzz:

    I agree. The CSST tubing is actually over spec’d. I hate cold showers. Many of these things are regulated by local codes. My system was inspected and the inspectors complemented us on the job. The outlet is GFI. I assume you mean further than 3′ beacuse it is obviously closer than that. Why?

  • airvine1telusnet:

    Sorry but the db’s commenting on this vid don’t know anything , which problably means they’ve never likley even installed before…There no way of even knowing about the size of the gas withot measuring and referring to the gastite sizing charts, Assuming you’re on hi psi gas the gas looks fine …I’d be more concerned about the electrical, wrong wire, it should be aluminum coated BX and the plug should be GFI within 3′ of the unit because there will be water in your future.

  • PetPiv:

    Your gas line is way too undersized for this type of heater. The heater has Btu consumption bet 20,000 to 180,000 Btu’s. The gas manifold is also grossly undersized. Was this job inspected ? Permitted ?
